I don't know about your children, but when ours arrive home after school they are hun-gry. *laugh* Even after having had a great lunch at school, it's time to eat again for these growing Muffins! And to avoid them raiding the pantry and choosing to eat less-than-nutritious options *smirk*, it's good to be ON PURPOSE [...]

If you are expecting twins, and especially if you've got intense "nesting" going on *laugh*, then you are likely desiring to be prepared as much as possible for when you get to bring your precious muffins home finally. *smile!* (If you'd like here is my post on how to prepare for twins before they are born.) I've been [...]

School Lunches: Normal, Simple, and Yummy – With a Plan

By | March 13th, 2017|Favorite Recipes, How Do We Do That, Organization, Public School, Schedules and Routines, Time Efficiency|

When we were preparing to begin this year with public school, I really wanted a great plan for our children's lunches. As simple as it sounds, I wondered how I could make sure our children have enough nutrition in that little bag? How can I make sure they'll eat it and not give it away or [...]

Preparing for Twins

By | March 7th, 2017|How Do We Do That, Mom Tips, Organization, Schedules and Routines, Time Efficiency, Twins|

"We're having twins! ...Oh my gosh...we're having twins..." *smile* If you have been told that you're having twins then this may have been what went through your mind. *laugh* Elation and surprise! And then... reality!" How do people feed two at once? Will I ever sleep again? What do I need two of and what not?" [...]

Mom Tips – For the Kitchen

By | February 26th, 2017|How Do We Do That, Large Family - Small House, Mom Tips, Organization, Time Efficiency|

I so enjoy the little "mom tips" that I've come across in life - those little things that I've learned learned from my mom, or a mom friend, that just make life a little nicer.  Things that make the "daily-daily" just a little easier, or make me smile a little more, or maybe will be [...]

School Breakfasts – Planning Ahead for Healthy, Delicious, Satiating, and Simple

By | February 19th, 2017|How Do We Do That, Public School, Schedules and Routines, Time Efficiency|

Can a mom really get all of those adjectives into her breakfast menu?! We can if we plan ahead! *smile* It is always important to send kids into the day with a strong start, especially when they are growing so much physically, mentally, and emotionally. And we moms have to think carefully about this especially when the [...]

Striving to Bless with “Yes!”

By | February 15th, 2017|How Do We Do That, Parenting|

A valuable principle I've learned along the way is to strive to bless children by telling them "Yes!" as much as possible.  The answer to pretty much every question can be Yes, if we take a moment to think about how to word it.  Really, most all of what children ask of us are things they [...]

Homeschooling High School, or Supplementing Public School

By | February 12th, 2017|How Do We Do That, Organization, Public School, Time Efficiency|

For many homeschooling parents, teaching high school is a terrifying consideration. Often it is determined long in advance that home education will stop when the children reach high school age. We have been asked many questions along these lines. I learned a great deal about the process - after months of being completely intimidated and [...]

Gluten-Free Granola

By | February 7th, 2017|Favorite Recipes|

My wonderful sister gave this recipe to me, and not only is it healthy and delicious, but we don't have to compromise taste or texture even though it's gluten-free. Mmm... *beam* I love to eat this with my Cold Breakfast Oatmeal! In a large bowl combine: 5 c. Rolled oats 2 c. Coconut flakes, unsweetened 2 [...]

Overnight Oatmeal

By | February 7th, 2017|Favorite Recipes|

This oatmeal recipe is prepared the night before and can be served cold the next morning with fresh fruit, granola (or gluten-free granola), and chopped nuts. Oh my taste buds... it is super delicious. Extremely healthy, filling, and satiating, takes only a few minutes to prepare, and can even be modified to be gluten-free, dairy-free, [...]
